BR. Formed at the beginning of the 16th century by the reunion of several small states, Baguirmi was a Sultanate sometimes subject to Bornu that became a French protectorate in 1912. In 1960, the Sultanate was suppressed by independent Chad andrestored on 14/6/1970 (Almanach). Kings and rulers: Mahamat Yusuf, 1970- .
