HR. ASAR. The Fon people inhabit the southern region of Benin and to this day they have a king who is located in the capital of the Fon kingdom called Abomey. The king has only religious and ceremonial powers, but no official political power. Much has been written about the Fon kingdom because of its prominent role in the slave trade with the Europeans during the 17 and 1800s.
