Founded in 1515, Kebbi, also known as Kabi, was established first in Surame then in Birnin Kebbi until 1805, when conquered by the Fulbe Jihad. The king submitted and received the title of Sarkin Kebbi. Kebbi was annexed by Gwandu in 1831. In 1849, Kebbi was again independent at Argungu. Today, corresponds to the State of Kebbi with Birnin Kebbi as capital. Kings and rulers: Muhammadu Mera Muza dan Muhammadu Sani, 11th Emir of Argungu (Sarkin Kebbi, Sarkin Kanta), 1960 - .
