Founded in 2003, the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is a voluntary self-monitoring mechanism open to any member-State of the African Union and intended to assess States' compliance with democracy, political, economic and corporate governance standards, and the socioeconomic development objectives of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).
