Scope note
Established as the African and Malagasy Patent Rights Authority for 12 French-speaking African countries (Libreville Agreement of 13 September 1962), OAMPI became OAPI with the signing of the Bangui Agreement in 1977. In 2006 it had 16 member States - Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
